After an oil change in Fairbanks, it was time to head back south. Denali was covered by clouds. We hit up a health food store in Anchorage. Didn’t see any beluga whales from Anchorage to Homer and back. I’d told Mary that there’d be beluga by the time we got to Soldotna, but that’s not how it worked at all. She was starting to think that I was exaggerating things a bit. We did see a bear and two cubs walking across Exit Glacier. Drove the one-way train tunnel to Whittier; got on the ferry for Valdez.
