Finally, we caught our last sight of Alaska. There was a bear viewing area. One bear was named PingPong. He was a young showoff who kept coming back to put on displays of fish-eating for all his adoring fans. The day got old, and the road to the campsite was long. It was dark before we got there. The road was very bad. Finally we got there, and it wasn’t just pitch dark, it was also rainy. Aside from the German Sprinter parked nearby, you couldn’t see anything that night. The next morning it was super foggy too. Finally, the fog started lifting, and Mary got to see the twin forks of the Salmon Glacier. I hadn’t told her about it at all, so she wouldn’t be disappointed. It was almost as good as I remembered it.

Roasted garbanzo beans are called Chana. They’re crunchy turning creamy as you chew, with just enough flavor to make it all worthwhile.

Coming down a valley in British Columbia, it was deserty, reminding me of New Mexico maybe. I was surprised to see that in Canada, but especially BC.
